The token itself, and where it came from.
What It Is
POPCAT is a Solana memecoin built on a 2020 internet meme of a real cat called Oatmeal, whose mouth opens and closes. The token changed hands between developers in 2023 after the original one was removed by the community.
Origin
The meme came first. A photograph of a cat named Oatmeal, owned by the X user @XavierBFB, was posted to the r/MEOW_IRL subreddit on 9 October 2020 by the redditor Skettidragon and became the open and closed mouth format. The token launched on Solana in 2022; no source I could reach gives the day or names the original deployer. In December 2023 the community removed the original developer over market manipulation and the X user @jpeggler acquired the rights to the token for 35,000 USDC. Source: Know Your Meme.
Supply
Total supply of 979,978,669 tokens, effectively all of it circulating on 19 September 2026. Solana contract . Source: CoinGecko, read 19 September 2026.
Chain

The Record
Documented highs, lows and events. Not a forecast.
All Time High
$2.05, 17 November 2024.
All Time Low
$0.00379728, 5 January 2024.
Event 1
The original developer was removed by the community in December 2023 over market manipulation, and the token rights were bought by another holder for 35,000 USDC. A memecoin changing custodians for the price of a used car is a fact about how little the wrapper costs and how much the audience is worth. Source: Know Your Meme.
Event 2
From $0.00379728 on 5 January 2024 to $2.05 on 17 November 2024, about five hundred and forty times in ten months. Source: CoinGecko.
Event 3
It reached a market capitalisation of about $1.3 billion on 23 October 2024, on a token built from a photograph of somebody else’s cat. Source: Know Your Meme.
Event 4
The cat is real and so is its owner. Oatmeal belongs to @XavierBFB and the token was not created by them. Source: Know Your Meme.
The Live Chart, And The Contract
Daily candles for the pool this token actually trades in, re-read every minute and drawn on this page rather than embedded from somebody else’s. The contract is underneath so you can check the chart is the token this page is about.
Loading the daily candles.
Daily candles from GeckoTerminal, re-read every minute while this section is on screen and drawn on this page. Not a recommendation.
Check the contract against the chart before you trust either. On both chains there is always a different token using the same name.
The Risks
Structural, and specific to this token.
Risk 1
The token is built on an image of an animal owned by somebody who did not create the token and has no stake in it. That is the same exposure every meme built on a real photograph carries.
Risk 2
It has already changed developers once, after the first one was removed for manipulating the market in it.
Risk 3
It is roughly ninety eight per cent below its November 2024 high.
Risk 4
The launch date and the original deployer are not published anywhere I could reach, so the first year of its history is not verifiable.
Supply, all time high and all time low from CoinGecko, read 2 September 2026. Launch details from the issuer's own announcements and from Solscan. Any price or market capitalisation inside the timeline is a dated snapshot, not a live figure. The live table is on the memecoins page. Every row in the timeline carries its own date and its own publication, and those are the sources. Supply, contracts, all time highs and all time lows come from CoinGecko, cross checked against CoinMarketCap and Coinpaprika. Where the aggregators disagree, both figures are printed and each is named in the row. Where a date is reported only as a month or a range it is written that way rather than narrowed. Direct quotations are reproduced from the reporting and attributed to the person who said them. Any price or market capitalisation in a row is a dated snapshot, not a live figure. Nothing on this page is a price forecast.

No. It is a breakdown of a token, which is a different thing. Memecoins have no cash flows and can go to zero. Nothing here is financial advice and Cody Wise is not a licensed advisor.
A Memecoin Is Not
A Position.
The sleeve is sized so a total loss changes nothing about the plan. That is the only condition under which it belongs at all.
Not financial advice.
