Ethereum ETFs.
The Staking Question.

Spot ether funds all hold the same asset, and then they split on one thing that actually matters: whether they stake it. A fund that does not stake is leaving the network’s own yield on the table on your behalf.

Spot ether ETFs hold ether directly. The difference that matters is staking: some funds stake a portion of their holdings and pass the rewards through, and some do not. Fidelity’s FETH and Grayscale’s ether funds stake. In Canada, Purpose’s ETHH stakes and 3iQ launched the first staking ether products in North America. Fees among the US funds run from 0.20 to 0.25 percent.

What Staking Changes, And What It Costs

The honest version, including the part that is a risk rather than a feature.

It Is Yield The Fund Either Takes Or Does Not

Ether staking produces a return from the network itself. A fund that stakes captures some of it. A fund that does not simply holds the asset. Between two otherwise identical funds that is a real difference, and it is larger than most of the fee spread.

The Manager Keeps A Share

Purpose states an 80/20 split of staking rewards with the manager. That is disclosed and it is normal, and it means the headline management fee is not the whole of what the manager earns from the fund. Read both numbers, not one.

Staked Ether Is Not Instantly Liquid

Staking involves exit queues at the protocol level. Funds manage that by staking only a portion, which is why issuers say a portion rather than all. It is a liquidity consideration, not a free return, and anyone selling it as free is not describing the mechanism.

The Asset Itself

A fund is a wrapper. These are the pages on what is inside it, written the same way and carrying no price either.
