No Investors.
No Unlock Waiting.
The bull case for Hyperliquid as the people who hold it actually make it, and the case against at the same weight, including the night its validators delisted a market mid squeeze.
Hyperliquid is a blockchain built to run an onchain derivatives exchange, from Hyperliquid Labs, which was founded in 2022 and took no venture capital. HYPE launched on 29 November 2024 with about 31 per cent of the one billion supply airdropped to users and none to private investors. It hit a record $94.48 on 19 September 2026.

The Bull Case, As Bulls Make It
Five arguments, stated at their strongest. This is the case the people who hold it make, not a forecast from this site.
Nobody Is Waiting To Sell
There was no allocation to private investors, centralised exchanges or market makers, so there is no venture unlock hanging over the token. Bulls argue that removes the most common reason a new token falls in its second year. Source: Hyperliquid Guide.
The Users Got The Supply
About 31 per cent of the supply went to users at genesis on 29 November 2024, one of the largest airdrops by value. The token started in the hands of the people who used the product.
Built By Traders, Paid For By Them
Hyperliquid Labs was founded in 2022 by Jeff Yan, a former Hudson River Trading quant, and a pseudonymous Harvard classmate, and was self funded. Yan reportedly turned down outside valuations to keep it that way. Source: Hyperliquid Guide.
A Chain Built For One Job
Rather than an exchange bolted onto a general purpose chain, the chain exists to run the order book. Bulls argue that is why it can offer centralised exchange speed while settling onchain.
The Market Keeps Agreeing

The Case Against, At The Same Weight
The other half. If you skip it you are reading an advertisement.
The Validators Stepped In
On 26 March 2025 a trader squeezed the platform’s own liquidity vault on the JELLY market in a roughly $13 million fight, and the validators delisted the market and settled it at a price of their choosing. It protected the vault. It also showed a small group can change the outcome of a trade. Source: CoinDesk, 26 March 2025.
Most Of The Supply Is Still Coming
Only about 22 per cent of the one billion supply was circulating on 19 September 2026. No venture unlock does not mean no unlock, and the other 78 per cent has to arrive somewhere. Source: CoinGecko.
Leverage Is The Product
The exchange’s business is leveraged derivatives. Its volume, and so the case for the token, rise with speculation and fall hardest when speculation stops.
Priced At The Top Of Its Record
The reading on this page was taken at an all time high. Every figure above describes a token that has only ever been measured going up, and none of it has been tested in a long drawdown.
Regulators Have Not Reached It Yet
An onchain derivatives venue open to anyone is exactly the kind of product regulators act on. Nothing has happened yet, which is a fact about timing rather than about risk.
What I Take From It
Not advice. How the argument reads to someone who builds businesses rather than trades tokens.
Not Taking Money Is A Strategy
Self funding meant nobody on the cap table needed an exit, and the token launched without a line of sellers behind it. The structure of who owns a thing decides a lot of what happens to it later.
Give The Product To The Users First
The largest share of the supply went to the people who had already used it. Rewarding the customer before the investor is an unusually direct way to build loyalty, in any business.
Governance Shows Up On The Worst Day
JELLY was the moment the rules were tested. Who can step in, and how fast, is the real governance, whatever the documents say.
