Turbo.
A Language Model Designed It For $69.

An artist gave GPT-4 sixty nine dollars and told it to make a memecoin. It picked the name, drew the mascot, wrote the contract, and when the first launch was drained it suggested the fix.

Turbo is an Ethereum ERC-20 memecoin created in 2023 by the Australian digital artist Rhett, who goes by Mankind, on a stated budget of $69 plus about $500 in launch costs. He instructed GPT-4 to act as MemeCoinGPT and it produced the name, the mascot prompt, the contract and a 69 billion token supply.

What TURBO Is

The token itself, and where it came from.

What It Is

Turbo is an Ethereum ERC-20 memecoin whose name, mascot, supply and smart contract were generated by GPT-4 on a $69 budget. The creator, Australian digital artist Rhett Mankind, acted as the operator rather than the designer.

Origin

Supply

Fixed supply of 69,000,000,000 tokens, all circulating, a figure chosen by GPT-4. The creator retained over 10 percent. Ethereum contract .

Event 1

GPT-4 produced the name candidates, a Midjourney prompt that generated the orange toad mascot, the Solidity contract and the 69 billion supply. The creator described the input as “a $20 subscription to GPT”. Source: Fortune via Yahoo Finance.

Event 2

The first launch failed when a malicious bot bought nearly all of the tokens. GPT-4 was asked what to do and proposed the crowdfunding mechanism the relaunch used. Source: Fortune via Yahoo Finance.

Event 3

It reached a $77 million market capitalisation within weeks of the relaunch and briefly entered CoinGecko’s top 300. Source: Fortune via Yahoo Finance.

The Chart, And The Contract

The chart lives on DexScreener and will not render inside another page, so this links out to it rather than showing you a box that never loads. The contract sits beside it so you can check the chart is the token this page is about.

Check the contract against the chart before you trust either. On both chains there is always a different token using the same name.

The Risks

Structural, and specific to this token.

Risk 1

A contract written by a language model is a contract nobody audited line by line before it held money.

Risk 2

The creator retained over ten percent of supply, which is disclosed rather than hidden and is still a concentration.

Risk 3

The premise is the marketing. If the novelty of an AI made coin stops being interesting, nothing underneath it replaces that.

Risk 4

Liquidity is thin against the other coins on this site, about $87,000 on its deepest Uniswap pair at the time of writing.

Launch details and events sourced from Wikipedia, Fortune via Yahoo Finance, Gate Learn and MEXC Crypto Pulse, with each figure carrying its publication in the row it appears in. Supply, contracts, all time highs and all time lows are from CoinGecko, and every contract was then resolved through DexScreener and checked against the symbol and name of the page it sits on. Prices are dated snapshots, not live figures. Nothing on this page is a price forecast.
