PEPE.
And Why It Is Not On Solana.
The largest memecoin built on a character with a living author who never licensed it. What the token is, what the supply looks like, and the part nobody puts in the thread.
PEPE is an Ethereum ERC-20 memecoin built on the Pepe the Frog character, launched anonymously in April 2023 with a fixed supply of 420,690,000,000,000 tokens, no presale and an immutable contract. It is not a Solana token. It has no product, no revenue and no licence from Matt Furie, who created the character.

The Chart, And The Contract
The chart lives on DexScreener and will not render inside another page, so this links out to it rather than showing you a box that never loads. The contract sits beside it so you can check the chart is the token this page is about.
Check the contract against the chart before you trust either. On both chains there is always a different token using the same name.
The Lore
Fourteen dated events, from a 2005 comic strip to a 2026 fund filing. The largest memecoin built on a character whose creator spent years trying to take it back.

The PEPE Contract Is Deployed On Ethereum
Etherscan dates the contract creation for to 14 April 2023, which matches IQ.wiki's stated launch date; Decrypt instead dates the launch to 17 April 2023, so the exact first day of trading is reported inconsistently. Aggregators also disagree on the record low: CoinMarketCap lists an all time low of $0.00000000001063 on 14 April 2023, while CoinGecko lists $0.00000005514 on 17 April 2023. Sixteen Trillion PEPE Leave The Project Multisig
On 24 August 2023 roughly 16 trillion PEPE, about 60 per cent of the 26 trillion held in the project multisignature wallet and worth around $15m to $16m, was moved to exchanges after the signing threshold was changed from five of eight to two of eight. The remaining anonymous founder blamed three former team members who he said had removed themselves from the wallet, while on-chain analysts noted that five wallets signed the threshold change, which they said did not fit that account. PEPE fell about 15 per cent on the day; in October 2023 the project burned 6.9 trillion tokens worth roughly $5.5m, about 1.6 per cent of supply. The Risks
Structural, and specific to this token.
Risk 1
The character is the work of a living artist with no licence granted to the token.
Risk 2
Anonymous issuer with no accountable entity behind it.
Risk 3
Bridged supply on several chains means bridge failures could affect holders.
Risk 4
No cash flows, treasury or product supports the token.
Every row in the timeline carries its own date and its own publication, and those are the sources. Supply, contracts, all time highs and all time lows come from CoinGecko, cross checked against CoinMarketCap and Coinpaprika. Where the aggregators disagree, both figures are printed and each is named in the row. Where a date is reported only as a month or a range it is written that way rather than narrowed. Direct quotations are reproduced from the reporting and attributed to the person who said them. Any price or market capitalisation in a row is a dated snapshot, not a live figure. Nothing on this page is a price forecast.

No licence has been granted. The character was created by the cartoonist Matt Furie, who has pursued copyright actions over unauthorised uses of it for years. That is the same structural position as CHILLGUY and Shark Cat, at a much larger scale.
No. It is a breakdown of a token. Memecoins have no cash flows and most go to zero. Cody Wise is not a licensed financial advisor and nothing here is a recommendation to buy anything.
The Chain Matters.
So Does Who Drew It.
Every breakdown on this site names the chain, the supply and the person who owns the artwork, because those are the three things that actually decide what a memecoin is.
Not financial advice.
