Quick Answer

Hot Tub Care at $279 a month fits a home tub. Care Plus at $399 a month fits an active rental, because it adds a drain every three months. Full Care at $499 a month fits a high volume rental, because it adds a drain every month and same day response. If a tub is used lightly, one time visits at $45 and $200 can cost less than any plan.

Hot Tub Care: A Home Tub

Hot Tub Care is the plan for a tub that is used by the same few people, most weeks. It covers the basics that matter most: a weekly test and balance, a monthly filter rinse and a monthly written report. A seasonal open and close is included, and any extra drain and refill is $175 instead of $200.

It suits a household that wants the tub ready when they are, and wants someone else to keep the numbers right. The reports give you a record without making you keep one. If the tub gets heavier use than usual, you can add a drain whenever you need one at the plan rate.

Care Plus: An Active Rental

Care Plus adds the item rentals need most: a drain, refill and balance every three months, included. A rental has a new set of bathers every few days, and three months is the ceiling for a tub in that use. Care Plus also moves the written reports to weekly, adds priority booking, and includes a filter deep clean and inspection.

That is why it is the plan most active rentals run. The reports are the paper trail for a guest or an insurer, and the drain schedule is built in, so it does not depend on remembering. The schedule logic is in how often to drain an Airbnb hot tub.

Full Care: A High Volume Rental

Full Care is for the tub that is booked most of the month. It includes a drain, refill and balance every month, same day priority response, dedicated phone support and an annual filter replacement, with weekly reports. A tub with that kind of load is the one where a failure on a Friday is a bad weekend, so response time and a person to call matter.

The Honest Math

A plan is not always the cheaper way to buy the same visits. Here is the annual math with the published prices, so you can decide on facts.

OptionAnnual CostNotes
Hot Tub Care ($279 x 12)$3,348Weekly care, monthly report, filter rinse, open and close, drains at $175
Hot Tub Care plus 4 drains at $175$4,048A rental on a 3 month schedule
Care Plus ($399 x 12)$4,788$740 more than the row above; adds weekly reports, priority booking, filter deep clean
Hot Tub Care plus 12 drains at $175$5,448A high volume rental on a monthly schedule
Full Care ($499 x 12)$5,988$540 more than the row above; adds same day response, phone support, annual filter
Weekly $45 water test, 4 a month ($45 x 4 x 12)$2,160Water tests only: no filter care, no reports, no drains

Two things follow. First, if all you want from Care Plus or Full Care is the drains, the cheaper route is Hot Tub Care plus drains at the plan rate. What the higher plans buy is the weekly reports, priority access and support, which matter most when a guest or an insurer is involved. Second, a tub used lightly does not need a plan. Weekly $45 tests across a year come to $2,160, and a tub used once in a while can be tested only when it is used.

When One Time Visits Are The Better Buy

  • The tub is used a few times a month or less.
  • You are comfortable testing and balancing it yourself and only want a reset now and then.
  • The tub is seasonal and idle for months at a time.
  • You want to try the service before committing. A $45 test is the easy first step.

The one time prices are $45 for a water test and balance and $200 for a full drain, refill and balance. See hot tub cleaning and drain and refill. The full cost breakdown is in how much a hot tub drain and refill costs in Calgary.

How To Choose In Four Questions

  1. How many different people use the tub in a typical month? The same household points to Hot Tub Care. A new group every few days points to Care Plus.
  2. Is the tub on a listing? A rental needs a record and a schedule. That moves you toward Care Plus or Full Care.
  3. Is it booked most of the month? If so, a drain every month and a faster response are worth paying for. That is Full Care.
  4. Do you need to prove what was done? Weekly written reports are in Care Plus and Full Care. Monthly reports are in Hot Tub Care.

If your answers land between plans, start with the lower one. Plans are month to month with 7 days notice, so a wrong guess costs you a month, not a year.

Common Mistakes When Choosing A Plan

  • Buying the biggest plan for the drains alone. If drains are the only thing you want, Hot Tub Care plus drains at $175 costs less. Buy the higher plan for the reports, the response time and the support.
  • Buying too little for a rental. A tub that sees a new group every few days and only gets a monthly report is exposed. The weekly reports and the drain schedule are what protect the review.
  • Ignoring the record. If a guest or an insurer ever asks what the water read, a report from last Tuesday answers it. A plan without one leaves you guessing.
  • Treating a plan as a cure. A plan keeps good water good. It does not fix a failing heater or a cracked shell. Those are repair jobs, and the report will flag them.
  • Forgetting the winter. A plan should run through January. Winter is when a half managed tub fails, and the winter care checklist explains why.

The good news is that the mistake is cheap. Plans are month to month, so you can move up or down by talking to me before the next billing month, and one time visits are always available.

Other Seasons

Hot tub plans are one third of the year round picture. Snow And Ice is $399 a month from October to March and Lawn And Grounds is $329 a month from April to September. The bundle of all three is $499 a month. See year round property maintenance for a Calgary Airbnb. Every plan is listed on the plans page.
