Bored Ape Solana Club.
The Derivative That Got Its Own Badge.
Episode nine of a series breaking down Solana NFT collections. Six thousand and one apes, a founder who walked, a community that reminted the whole thing, and a marketplace that invented a label because of it.
Bored Ape Solana Club is a Solana NFT collection of 6,001 apes that states on every marketplace listing that it is not affiliated with Yuga Labs. Magic Eden named it as the reason it created a derivative badge. The project’s own history document calls the original founder’s exit a slow rug.

The Rise
What actually happened, with the date attached to each of them.
A Stealth Mint At 0.69 SOL
The project’s own history document says 6,001 apes launched in a stealth mint on a launchpad at 0.69 SOL, about eighty dollars at the time, and completed nine days later. That document gives a day and a month and no year anywhere on the page, so this page does not print one.
The Holders Took The Project Over
After the founder left, the same document names the group that stepped in, says roughly 100 SOL was raised in twelve hours, and dates the relaunch and a full remint of 6,001 to 27 March, with the artwork hand redrawn to distinguish it from the Ethereum collection.
Magic Eden Built A Policy Around It
Magic Eden’s own blog names this collection as the trigger, saying public perception shifted after Bored Ape Solana Club came out. It introduced a derivative badge, kept the collections tradable, and a follow up post returned them to the homepage carrying a small tag. Neither post shows a publication date.
The Turn, And What It Cost
The part of the story people skip, at the same weight as the rise.
The Original Art Was Copy And Paste, By The Project’s Own Account
Its history document states the original 6,001 were copy and paste traits that the previous owner had claimed to have gotten permission from BAYC to use. That is a second hand claim about a departed founder, reported by the people who replaced him. No licence, no confirmation from Yuga Labs and no other record of it was found anywhere.
The Project Calls Its Own Founder Exit A Slow Rug
The section heading in its own history document is The Slow Rug. It says the founder listed his own profile picture on 21 March to capture the last bit of funds he could. This is the project describing itself, which is unusually candid and still self interested.
What Yuga Labs Has Actually Done Is Nothing
No lawsuit, no cease and desist, no DMCA, no takedown, no settlement and no public statement about this collection was found on the public record. The documented Yuga derivative enforcement concerns a different project on Ethereum. An unlicensed derivative that has never been acted against is exactly that, and no more.
The Supply Does Not Agree And The Second Collection Is Unexplained
Stated supply is 6,001. Indexed supply reads 5,997 on CoinGecko and 5,995 on OpenSea, most likely burns. A second Magic Eden collection under the symbol bascv2 holds 9,834 items and no source found explains where that number comes from. Its floor read 0.25 SOL on 23 September 2026.
What It Teaches
Three things that survive the cycle.
A Derivative Is A Legal Position, Not A Style
This collection disclaims affiliation on every listing, which is a defence rather than a licence. The absence of enforcement is not permission, and a marketplace label is not a legal finding. All three are true at once.
A Community Can Replace Everything Except The Origin
New team, new art, new mint, and the origin story still sits in the project’s own document. Holders bought the ongoing project. They did not buy a different beginning.
Read The Project’s Own History Before The Marketplace Page
Every hard fact on this page that is not a live price comes from a document the project wrote about itself, including the parts that make it look worst. That is the first thing to go looking for on any collection, and most of them do not have one.

Common Questions
A Solana NFT collection of 6,001 apes trading on Magic Eden under the symbol bored_ape_solana_club. Its own description on every marketplace states that it is not affiliated with Yuga Labs.
No. It is an unlicensed derivative that disclaims affiliation with Yuga Labs in its own listings. Magic Eden classified it as a derivative and built a badge policy around it.
No lawsuit, cease and desist, DMCA, takedown or public statement was found on the public record. The documented Yuga derivative enforcement concerns a different project on Ethereum.
The project’s own history document titles that period The Slow Rug and says the founder listed his own profile picture on 21 March to capture the last bit of funds he could. A holder group took over, raised about 100 SOL in twelve hours and reminted the collection on 27 March. The document gives no years.
Magic Eden returned 1.03 SOL and CoinGecko 1.12 SOL on 23 September 2026. The second collection under the symbol bascv2 read 0.25 SOL. The live table on this site covers the ten busiest Solana collections by volume, and neither of these is among them.
